World Suicide Prevention Day

10 September is World Suicide Prevention Day. The purpose of the day is to raise awareness around the globe that suicide can be prevented and is a call to action that encourages everyone to help reduce stigma around suicide and mental health. Read on to learn about the mental wellbeing resources available to you as a Pearson employee:

Employee Assistance Programme | On-Demand Webinar: Suicide Awareness

Suicide can touch any life and the impact can be profound. Listen to this candid conversation about possible warning signs and how you might help. Register for the Suicide Awareness on-demand webinar.

Unmind | Global Wellbeing Support

Unmind is a global online wellbeing platform, accessible via mobile app, desktop and via Teams (click on the three buttons on the left and look for the Unmind app). The platform houses features and content to help you measure and manage your mental health and wellbeing, including 12 free one-on-one therapy or coaching sessions. You can access content covering all sorts of areas, from managing stress, to sleeping better, to improving your focus and workplace coaching.

Aviva | Mental Health Pathway

The mental health pathway is a clinically driven approach to mental health support, providing a broad range of evidence-based treatment options. To start the process for treatment, call Aviva at the customer service helpline on 0800 056 4458, where one of the advisers will put you in contact with the clinical team for a thorough assessment. After the assessment, a therapist will advise of the most appropriate course of treatment.

Crisis Call Lines | When Immediate Help Is Needed

If you or someone you know is in crisis and has thoughts of suicide, you can reach out to one of the following services:

  • Call Emergency services at 999; or
  • Call the NHS helpline at 111; or
  • Call Samaritans for free at 116 123

Assistance is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The Mindfulness Habit | Join a Weekly Sitting Group

Pearson employee and published author, Lisa Wren, leads a weekly mindfulness sitting group, creating a space for employees to pause and rest. Visit the hub to learn more about Lisa’s journey to Mindfulness and how she hopes to make Mindfulness an integral part of workplace culture.

Pearson Pension Plan | New Investment Funds on the Way!

The Trustee of The Pearson Pension Plan (the Plan) regularly reviews the investments available in the Plan, with the help of its investment advisers, to ensure that the options remain appropriate for members. Following its most recent review, The Trustee has decided to make the following changes to the investment funds:

  • The current Blended Global Equity Fund will be replaced with a new, tailored fund specifically designed for the Plan. The new fund will be called the Pearson Plan Bespoke Global Equity Fund
  • The Pearson Plan Bespoke Global Equity Fund will be added to the self-select option range

Lower Fees

The annual fee for this new fund will be slightly lower, 0.25%, compared to the current 0.26%. There will also be a reduction in annual fees for the Blended Multi-Asset Fund from 0.66% to 0.53%.
